Do you need funding for a planned research project on a history or archaeology related topic?
The Trust was established in the memory of the late Catherine Mackichan and aims to:
1. Support research into the history and archaeology of Scotland and the Border counties of the North of England.
2. Promote awareness and understanding in these fields.
To achieve these aims the Trustees seek application for grants. Applications will be considered that request financial support to meet specific costs of research. Examples might include the costs of travel for site visits, excavations, access to specialist services such as radiocarbon dating, and documentation / publication.
Applicants might include postgraduate students, individuals without formal attachment to any institute of education, local history societies, amateur historians or school groups.
Grants usually have a value of between £200 and £500 but greater sums may be available.
Applications can be submitted between January and Mid-April each year. The closing date for receipt of applications is normally 16th April.
Please note that the Trust does not fund university undergraduate or post graduate fees or living expenses whilst studying for a degree.
